A* algorithm : pathfinder

I am currently exploring the A* algorithm. This is really interesting stuff.
Yet I know about 3 implementations for Flash and several for Javascript. The first one got introduced by Alessandro Crugnola. Alessandro´s version is good but not as fast as the one from Grant Skinner. Skinners´s version sadly is not for free. But there is this new A* algorythm of Andrea Giammarchi which I decided to give it a try.

The grid hold TBones, Crosses, Straights and Elbows to create the random gridmap. Move your mouse over the map and the detected path should display in red color. Sometimes there simply is no route, then click on the grid to create a new map.

[...] Besides my work I am sometimes also doing some freelancer stuff. So it happened that I got asked to help developing a new game for Kellogs. If you are a reader of my blog than you still remember the pathfinder stuff I recently did which was now used as the engine for the game “Path to fame”. Credits also go to Rüdiger / 089Flash who did the technical project management, most of the animation and big portions of the design. Well done Rüdiger, it is a pleasure to work with you! [...]
